This is by far the fastest project I've ever worked on.
It was completed, concept to final, in less than 6 days.

The short movie was to be a continuation of the previous Empire Earth E3 trailer.

Just further into the future, and more advanced technology.
Like the first trailer, we see a battle hardened commander before his troops. I wanted the feel of the "drop ship" to be similar to that of paratroopers before a jump.
The troopers are scooped into huge armored "drop pods" and can be seen hurtling towards Earth on a mission.

The writing for this story was pretty quick (a few hours) and concepts came shortly after. In fact, on this project, concepts were done during production.
I roughed out the environment in low poly form, and did a simple animatic. Feng fleshed out the details, and I started the true models.

I modeled the environment in about a day and a half, and the drop troops and the commander in less than a day each.
In the interest of saving time, Feng helped by making the bigger, more complex textures.

We made quick work of the commanders animation by using our Vicon 8, "M" camera system.

I spent the rest of the time playing with lighting, creating and animating the "hologram".
Render time was about half a day (combined), and final compositing and output, another day.

Technical specs:
• Total time: 32 seconds (960 frames)
• I use a dual 2.2 Mhtz box with 2 gigs of ram.
• This was created in 3D Studio Max 4.
• I 'box-model' in Polys, and with very few plug-ins. This project, I used no modeling plugins.
• For compositing, I used Digital Fusion, by Eyeon Software.
• And a project wouldn't be complete without Photoshop 7.
• While I am re-rendering a version in Brazil, I used scanline for the delivered final.
